I am

For forty years in one profession, and after retirement, I declined all job offers, while many of my colleagues accepted part-time contracts and earned decent salaries. After finishing my other pressing work, I realised that no work is a punishment. It destroys both your creativity and your body; you need time to rest, but not all day. The situation also became boring and unhealthy. Maintaining one’s health is crucial after retirement, and working can help. One day, while I was struggling with these unhealthy thoughts, I rose early from bed and took a morning walk. On a bench beside the pond, an elderly couple sat conversing. I sat down beside them and listened to what they were gossiping about. I understood they were chalking out their work for the day. They were more than eighty years of age and still working. The man was a consultant while his wife was a doctor. I listened to them silently and then decided I should work. Ultimately, I decided to write about anything relevant to life and for the current generation. I wrote occasionally, and one of my articles was published in an English daily newspaper. Later, I pursued another profession, but whenever I found time, I wrote down something that struck me; these were never published. A man who has experienced more than seventy monsoons has much to share with the world. What you will discover here is an expression for simple thoughts. These are simple thoughts, but no politics. You may or may not agree with my observations, but I am sure you will all agree: why not take it this way? You are my inspiration, my friends, and my well-wishers, so please give your views. There was no political overtone or undertone. Namaste. Ashok K. Ray
